Artista e cavalletto

Hello Michela Fabeni
Tell us about your Art

I am Michela Fabeni, born in Rome in 1975. I define myself as Artist of the Third Millennium because even though I am inspired by classical art, I have created a contemporary personal style in which my dynamic and explosive energy flows freely and reflects my exuberance. I am an artist with a somewhat extravagant nature as can be seen from the accessories I wear during exhibitions, the hat and glasses reflect the astral flights that characterize my creations. Creating for me is an escape from reality which is not always pleasant. Art has always fascinated me in all its forms. Since I was little, imagination and creativity have been essential parts of my life, they make something magical and indefinable move within me that seduces my soul, opening the door to the beauty of Creation.   At the moment, in addition to writing, I passionately  dedicate myself to the art od sculpture, bas-reliefs on canvas, even if the canvas for me was only a fallback because in reality I love painting on large spaces without limits but having no more walls available I had to adapt ... Mine is a strong motivation to want to understand the world, myself, my existence, my destiny, unconsciously making an internal journey. Through my works I am able to express myself without veils and secrets, exposing my feelings, emotions and moods, represented in the female figure whose inner strenght I often exalt, even if in some creations, there are more subjets, they are always fragments of my soul. I explore themes such as Universal Love in all its facets, Infinity and the Universe. My creations, although in an abstract, surreal and sometimes symbolic way, are often inspired by mythology. I enhance the sensuality and sinuosity of the forms of the creatures represented through the joy and awareness of a cosmic union.

Tell us About your Creations

I consider the representations of my creatures as fragments of my soul. The artworks are material, that is, the materials with which I create them come from the four natural elements of our Universe; this is why I like to think that life flows through them. Water is the source of life, air is the breath of the world, earth is the place where roots are placed and fire is the energy that heats and purifies. I love to express myself on canvases without borders, pursuing my idea of continuity and Infinity both in time and space, as can often be seen from my compositions of diptychs or triptychs. As I have already mentioned, I take up the sculptural artistic techniques of the great Masters of the past, adapting them to the Third Millennium. I also gave a name to my technique: 'the chamfered. I like to think of smoothing the edges of the creatures represented with the spatula, gently rounding them. Since the technique and style are unmistakable, my artworks are recognizable and appreciated internationally. I use soft mixtures that take shape on the canvases thanks to the fluid movements of the spatula with the collaboration of the bare hands for decorations and finishes. The development process of my bas-reliefs is very long and meticulous, mainly consisting of repairing cracks and fortification, ensuring their longevity. I also finish them with the addition or not of color and in any case by applying a protective treatment. Thanks to all these technical steps, I allow the canvases to be correctly protected and preserved. I cannot deny that the bold brushstrokes and energic movements of the palms and fingertips, full of intense and vibrant colors, give warmth and illuminate the artworks. Thickness and light play a fundamental role, trough wich my essence resurfaces. Most of the time the distractions of today's world make us lose the essence of who we are, yet the things we experience amazement and wonder about are the simplest.   If we let ourselves go and open the door of our heart surrounded by a subtle sensation of peace, like when we admire the sky at nightfall, we can let the small, big miracles of life enter our soul. The truth is that we carry the starry sky within us. I wish everyone to fully enjoy this joy and appreciate the mystery and magic that surround our Universe.
